  • Hi! I was a student for two semesters at GCU for nursing. I would like to say that the campus is nice with all of the new expanding and the food is decent but that's about the nicest I can say about my experience. The enrollment counselor that I met with for 30 min. one day did not explain the process to me, I had to call the week before classes started to find out I was accepted and then they signed me up for classes. I had a horrible schedule spanning from 8am-8pm and when I explained that I was a mother of 2 and had a job that I needed a new schedule for I was told ( a week after classes started) it was too late to change my schedule. I continued to see throughout the months ahead kids transferring in and out of classes so the academic advisor was just too lazy to change my courses and preferred to have me struggle balancing a family and school. You will never speak to the same person more than once, the turn over rate is insane, and no one seems to think they should actually do their job. I had to go to the financial advisors office over 8 times because I was continually getting calls from my loan company saying that if I was not a student I had to start paying, and every time GCU employees would never simply fax the form to them, letting them know I was a current student. After attending classes for 2 semesters and even working for the University in the Enrollment department I get a call a week before classes are over that I cannot get my schedule for the following semester until I paid for the two semesters I attended the University. I asked why my loan did not cover it and I was told by the financial advisor "I don't Know, you can look up companies online and get more loans I guess" and told me that I had to pay in a week or so and that was it. I was unable to continue school and then I later discovered that they had, without my permission or without my signature, signed me up for loans to cover the cost of those classes and those loans went into collections, and because of their horrible and incompetent financial advisors they never sent the forms notifying my other loan company that I was a current student so they were also sending my accounts to collections. GCU does anything and everything to get as much money as possible so they can continue to expand their campus, and they could care less if you do not succeed.
