I travel to Charlotte regularly from California and there's always an adjustment period of about 20-30 minutes into a class because the yoga culture and language is different from coast to coast (not to mention from one style of yoga to another). However, after visiting many studios across the country I have narrowed the quality of my experience down to two things: Is the contact with the studio staff, other students and teacher welcoming/positive or not, and how do I feel by the end of class (if I honestly come in with an open heart and mind). Well, Enlighten Yoga is pleasant to the eyes, ears and nose, but more importantly I was warmly welcomed and my Level 1 class taught by Ann was simply lovely. I wish Charlotte teachers used fewer made-up English names for poses (Cheetah pose?) and more Sanskrit names (they are more universal), but that's just me being controlling. Ann taught a well-paced, comprehensive class. She adapted instruction for beginners and the more-advanced with ease, and her kind, generous spirit came through her words and direction. Looking forward to returning to Enlighten Yoga next time I'm in Charlotte.
