  • I wish I had checked out Yelp before booking these motherf*ckers. I had the exact same TRAUMATIZING experience as the other reviewers when I moved from Los Angeles to Chicago last July (2010). Here is a list of all the reasons why this company deserves to be thrown into a fire pit with carnivorous baboons with only a toothpick and a bottle of aloe vera to survive*: 1) They quoted me at $1100 for my move. The total cost for my move upon delivery? $2,200. Literally TWO TIMES what they quoted. 2) They tried to show up 4 days early, on Saturday. I told them I hadn't even begun packing and their response was that they could help me pack. Yeah, right. And pay you extra? No thanks. They finally agreed to show up on Tuesday. I didn't go to my students' end-of-year awards ceremony to wait for the movers, since they told me there was NO WAY they could come on Wednesday, the date for which I originally booked my move. I waited all day and night, and they didn't even show up. After many phone calls, that night and the next day, they finally showed up... At 9:00 pm at night. It took them 3 hours to get my stuff onto the truck. 3) When they showed up, they told me there were multiple things that needed to be boxed, which I hadn't boxed because I gave them an INVENTORY LIST of every item I was moving, and they never said they needed to be boxed (e.g. my keyboard, a floor lamp, a wall-hanging picture frame). Since it was already past 9:00 pm and I was alone, I had no choice but to let them box those items at $30 APIECE. Literally charged me $30 per box. I was livid. 4) I needed my things stored for two months, with one month free. They didn't deliver my stuff on time. Not even close. Even though I told them in June that I needed my things on August 1st. The date they finally delivered my items? August 18th. THEN, they tried to CHARGE ME for the 2 1/2 weeks extra. I finally started getting extremely angry with Oasis and told them there was no effing way I was paying them for keeping my stuff WAY later than I wanted and had to sleep on my roommate's couch because of their complete idiocy. Needless to say, I won that battle, but only because it was the most preposterous thing anyone has ever attempted to do. Ever. In the history of life. 5) They broke my TV (did not work when I plugged it in, although it worked fine for the two years previous that I had it), chipped a side off of my dresser mirror, chipped a corner on my dresser, and broke my corner desk into so many pieces that they didn't even bother to take it out of the truck when they delivered it. The amount the reimbursed me for? A whopping $78. They ruined $600 worth of stuff and damaged another $400 worth. All in all, these people SUCK. BIG TIME. I still have nightmares about this experience. The only way I would ever recommend this company to another human being would be if they had killed my first born child and I needed some form of sick revenge to make them wish they had never been born. Only moving with Oasis Moving & Storage could inflict such pain on someone. *Please also note that since it has been a full year since my move, this list consists of what I remember and still seethe at, which is understandably shorter than what I remembered and seethed at last year.
