I know what you're thinking.. Of course mechanics get a bad rap. Right? Let me tell you my tale and let you be the judge:
Rule of thumb for a mechanic: know mechanics! AND never give me the possibility of being stranded. Seems pretty simple right?
These folks did me right in the beginning. They found a huge mistake from another mechanic.. My hero! Coupled with great customer service. I found my mechanical utopia at last.. or so I thought.
The sad day would come when I needed new tires. I chose a different place for the tires. In the process of replacing my tires, the other mechanic pointed out my sway-bar was broken - a mystery sound I had for a couple of years - It was an obvious problem. The links were completely broken.
Needless to say, I took the truck back to Victory and asked: what happened to my 14 point inspection that's supposed to be done with my oil change? I let them fix the sway bar only to get the truck back with a coolant leak from a hose on the same side.
I allowed them to fix the hose - gave them the benefit of the doubt. Picked my truck up and took it into work in Uptown. I was hemorrhaging coolant. They almost cause a massive overheat. That's one of the worst things you can do to an engine.
I took the truck back immediately. A third pressure test was done and they claim it is now fixed (no additional charge). They apologized. They service manager said he believes the mechanic to be honest that it wasn't an issue in pressure test 1. Honesty is nice provided that he is a good mechanic. Sadly - this is not the case.
Good Customer Service will never win back the loss of trust in quality. Quality first. Sadly it was the last and so too shall they be for my mechanical repairs.
