| - I knew there would one day be something that would put me over the edge, and I'd finally get a Yelp. That day has come.
I live around the corner from Broncos Slider Bar (and frequented the two previous restaurants in this space) so was really excited to check this place out.
I'm a 10 year veteran at being celiac (long predating 'gluten free chic'), and I'd rather a restaurant tell me they can't serve me then be unsure about it. It's no hard feelings to me; I've worked in the service industry and never want to be that annoying patron with countless modifications. I asked a waitress when we arrived if they could accommodate someone who was celiac and doesn't eat gluten (who went to confirm with the kitchen), I asked our server who said no problem, and had our server point out the things I could order.
I ordered the cheeseburger, and two Bo Sam's, all with the lettuce cup option, which I was directed to as gluten free options. The cheeseburger was good, but the Bo Sam's were dripping in soy sauce, which I couldn't tell until I had my first bite. If you're celiac, you'll understand the immediate surge of anger/fear/annoyance.
We also had to grab our own cutlery and napkins - salt in the wound.
Kitchen 101 - make sure your staff know what's up with your menu. I had to walk inside, because I couldn't flag anyone down, three servers couldn't answer my query about the soy sauce, and finally someone went back to the kitchen. I was told they had 'come in contact with soy sauce', which was just frustrating to be told because I definitely tasted soy sauce as part of the dish.
Also, apologize when you've screwed up, and don't act like you're doing me a favour by taking the food you gave me that I couldn't eat off of our bill.
We won't be back, which sucks, because for my gluten-drinking partner, they have a decent beer list. And Spirit Tree's Pear Cider, which is delicious.
