I just moved from Las Vegas where I loved my puppy's veterinarian at Banfield. However, since moving to Scottsdale and coming to this location, I have chosen not to renew my Banfield Pet Care Plan. The first issue that I had was that I was not able to make an emergency appointment with them for my dog when she hurt her paw. I tried to be understanding about this as I know that it can be hard to keep appointments available. I got my dog treated at another vet, but decided to give Banfield another chance just to get a check up and a vaccine. The vets and vet techs at this location did not properly communicate the needs of my dog. They requested to take her back without me because she demonstrates better behavior when I'm not around, I am 100% okay with this, as long as they are able to give me a comprehensive report about what they observed. This was not the case. I came home and read through paperwork to find that they had reported abnormalities with my dog's gums and behaviors that they had not spoken to me about AFTER I asked if her behavior was okay and if there were any concerns. As a result, I had to call the office back and receive all the information I needed over the phone, then drive back to Petsmart to purchase all of the gum and teeth care supplies that I need. When I asked the vet tech about trainer recommendations to address her behavior, he stated that he did not know of any trainers in the area. I refuse to take my dog to a vet that does not directly report concerns about my pet's health to me and cannot refer me to resources for basic petcare needs.
I do want to give positive credit where it is due. The woman who was working the front desk this Sunday was extremely helpful and worked with me to understand the concerns written about my dog in her report and made sure that I was able to take all of the steps necessary to keep my baby healthy.
