| - I booked my first ever The Ten Spot appointment online a few days ago. I was nervous and excited at the same time because dude, this one pedicure was gonna cost more than what my mom and sister pay for the full Mani Pedi experience at other places lol
The online booking system was super easy to use. I appreciated that the website was informative and straight forward. (After I read other people's negative reviews, I am of the opinion that they should have read the website more carefully) except for the bridesmaids party - that one I think the ladies should have gotten some sort of recompense for their experience.
I received 3 emails in total: one to confirm my appointment was booked, one to let me know it's too late to change my appointment without penalty and one after my appointment was done. I like the process but I'll wait on judgement bc I didn't check off that I wanted to know about any promotions so we shall see if I get spam later.
I arrived 20mins early for my appointment just in case they could take me earlier. When I got there, I suddenly had a fear that they'd hate me because I was way too early but Elaine, who greeted me, mistook me for someone who was late for her appointment and I didn't get hate for being early lol. I was invited to choose a colour. Ada introduced herself to me shortly after and asked if I wanted a beverage. I was after the girl who was late so she asked me to sit tight just in case the girl showed up.
The girl did show up a few minutes later. I thought for sure they'd berate her for being late because I was still thinking about how they turned me away so they should be strict with their timing policy - however it turned out that she had called in for her appointment booking and the girl who had taken down her number for reminders had jotted it down wrong. So they apologized for not being able to remind her and asked for her correct contact info before she received her service.
I didn't wait that long. At exactly the time my appointment was scheduled for, we began!
I want to point out that I spied on everything around me while waiting loll the girls who were working today were super diligent with cleaning. There was a jug of bleach, there were bottles of Lysol, lots of rinsing and washing, sterilizing, drying off, storing neatly... It was a clean freak's dream.
Ada was very friendly and personable. I had the impression that she was looking at her coworker alot during the pedicure which scared me everytime she snipped away with the pointy clippers without looking but there was only one ouch incident out of ten toes and no blood so I think it was okk overall.
I liked how Ada was super knowledgeable and forthcoming with the information too. I am pretty gullible and get lured into buying things easily; she just told me stuff and didn't pressure me to try or buy anything.
After each step of the Pedi, Ada asked me to check to make sure I was okay with what she did. I know some people get annoyed with that but I'm used to it after getting makeovers at Sephora. It's the best way to make sure you are getting what you want and what you're paying for and I am definitely appreciative of that as well. (I'm still working on this with one artist bc she's my mom's age and apparently it makes me incapable of telling her she does my eyebrows crooked)
At the end of my Pedi, Ada gave me options on what to do til they dried and I chose to walk carefully around the mall. I checked out with Elaine and it was delightful. I asked her how much their clients usually tipped there and she said 15% and even calculated how much that would be. Afterwards, she became serious and told me that I had absolutely no obligation to tip. That's what I wanted to hear. This place definitely had their act together today and I am super happy with everything overall!
With regards to the pricepoint: the website clearly states "we pay our esthetic experts a livable wage and commission, and we give all our employees proper breaks, overtime pay, paid vacation time and benefits. we also invest significant money into training our staff and offering additional education allowances per year. most importantly: we don't re-use materials from one person to the next and we only use the best products on the market."
I was really intrigued by what they meant from not reusing materials so I paid attention and discovered they had disposable buffer and filing pads that stuck onto the tools. After using, they discarded those pads and sterilized the tools. Just like at the dentist! And we all know how expensive the dentists are lol
My opinion is though, if you're ok with paying for it then go do it bc it's worth it (to me, so far)
If you will complain about the price later, don't bother. Just stick to what you're used to and hope for the best :)
Let's see how long the toes last for and I'll update in 2 to 3 weeks.
For now, I definitely recommend and I would definitely come again for quickies.
