  • While the service I received was courteous and rapid, unfortunately the $3100 rebuilt transmission failed after only 26,000km and slightly over 12 months. On the phone, they were not at all surprised. They seemed to suggest that while they hoped a rebuild job would last longer, the lifespan I experienced was definitely within the possible range. At the time of the first failure, the car was realistically worth about $6000. My first thought was that it wasn't worth it, I'd be better scrapping the car. Mr. Transmission told me the car had "lots of life left in it" and it was worth fixing. I realize nothing is certain in life, but had I known that was spending $3100 to delay the scrapyard by just 12 months, I never would have gambled that kind of money. Please do your own cost/benefit analysis very carefully before dropping that kind of cash on a repair that stands a good chance of lasting only a year. IMHO, if your car is realistically valued at less than $10k, you're probably wasting your money. But Mr. Transmission isn't going to tell you that. Lesson learned.
