| - Two stars, with a third for the price and location.
This review is for the furnished corporate rentals only.
I stayed here for a month at the end of 2013
The good stuff first.
The location is fine if you are looking for a short-term place near Playhouse Square.
The small grocery store and on-site laundry were very convenient in the winter.
Perhaps this area is coming up a bit, but nobody in our company felt unsafe here - even with the Greyhound station nearby.
The not-so-good:
This is a student-caliber apartment complex that has been gussied up a bit. Sadly, the upgrades do not improve the overall experience much.
When we walked into our apartment, (7G) the place was dirty. Some of the blinds were broken, and the kitchen was a greasy mess. The carpet had not been significantly vacuumed since the last tenant (there was cereal and other bits all over the place) - and the windows were just gross. I spent about three hours cleaning to make it habitable.
The kitchen is nice - with granite counter tops. But the pots and appliances were cheap and barely usable. Bring your own pans and coffee maker.
There were also bed-bug traps all over the place - mostly being used incorrectly. We never saw any in our room in the five weeks that we were there - but one of our company members did find bedbugs in his room - and took pictures. The management company handled it as best they could - relocated him, and sanitized all of his clothes and bags. You can find beg bugs anywhere these days. Just be aware.
The furniture is cheap, and not particularly comfortable. We had a small couch, one armchair, and a dining set. Just not many options. The beds were fine, though the linens were cheap and old. Again; bring your own if you can.
Even with the large windows, it was pretty dark. We asked for more lamps - and it took five days of constant reminding to get them.
So, would I stay there again? Well, if I was working in Playhouse Square, I'd have to say 'yes' - just because of the convenience and the price. But it's not what you'd call a cozy living situation.
