| - Move aside mattress monopolies, pushy sales employees, excessive price gouging, nonexistent return policies, and filthy mattress in-store model beds with your grimy linens! Hello to the alternative to all of the above -- Tuft & Needle!
In my ongoing research to find an alternative mattress replacement, I visited this lovely and elegant store in Phoenix which is located right behind the Sara Lee Bakery (be sure to inhale the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread as you move toward the entrance to the store...divine!).
Located at the end of Grand Avenue and definitely cannot be missed with its large signage. There is also signage in the street to direct one to their pristine parking lot at the side of the building.
As you enter, you're greeted by their personable staff. Answer a few questions if you've even been there before, listen to the instructions of where everything is, and that's it. You're free to roam the store. Mind you, it's not a large store indoors as you've got about 4-5 brightly lit rooms with their signature bed inside. They only make one kind of mattress so each room has the same kind of mattress.
You can take as long as you want within the rooms. The rooms all have a sliding wooden door but I don't believe one can close it for privacy. After all, it's not a hotel is it?!
The rooms are very simple with a bed and two side tables. On one of the side tables, there is an iPad with a plethora of questions you might have and accompanying videos for full visual effect.
Whilst you're lying on the mattress in one of these rooms, nobody comes to check on you or to ask if you have any questions. Absolutely no pressure or sales tactics! I'm already in love with the place, the atmosphere, and the environment! This is how buying products should be. If only car dealerships can take a leaf from their book?!
The mattresses were super comfortable whilst laying on them -- not too firm, not too soft, good for back or side sleeping (whilst there), and didn't make us feel hot or warm.
Within the store, there is a room with their newest product -- pouches! They're similar to large bean bags but made with their signature foam products. They were just as comfortable as their mattress and has even piqued my interest post mattress purchase. Along with these pouches were also their pillows on display -- in the front room that you entered and were greeted and on their beds. Also something I've put on the shopping list post mattress purchase.
Staff were very helpful in answering any extra questions we had and even offered us complimentary cold-brew coffee or cucumber juice.
Overall, an absolutely terrific shopping experience though my research still continues and hasn't been fully finalized yet. If you're in the market for a new mattress, I do strongly urge you to give this place a visit first before considering anything else!
