| - Worst escape room experience I've ever had.
While trying to use a groupon to book our room, my boyfriend and I accidentally submitted our booking on the company's confusing website without entering our groupon code yet. Upon arriving at the escape room, we explained to the employee what happened and that we wanted a refund so we could go through the room for the groupon price. The employee said she would help us figure it out AFTER we finished doing the room. In the mean time, she checked everyone in for our time slot only to discover that there had been a mistake in trying to change another woman's booking time and so now there were 2 extra people for our time slot. The woman was clearly very upset and unwilling to wait to do a later room. The employee asked us if we were all okay with having the 2 extra people in the room, but I literally felt as though this woman would verbally attack me for saying I wasn't okay with it, so we all reluctantly agreed and entered the escape room as a huge group of 12.
While in the escape room, there weren't very many tasks that could be worked on simultaneously, so most of us couldn't really do anything. I, personally, stood there and wasn't able to solve a single clue for the entire hour because there were simply too many people in the room. Not only that, but there were 2 children in the group (probably age 10 and 12) who were able to easily solve most of the puzzles (so they were obviously all pretty simple).
Once the time was up, we all exited the room and went back to the lobby. My boyfriend and I then went back to the employee and asked her again for a refund so we could have the groupon price. Only then did she call over a manager to reveal that we could not receive any sort of refund or compensation! They offered us a mere $10 off coupon for our next visit, which we certainly won't be using because I would never go back here. I then expressed to them how disappointed I was with the experience and they still said there was nothing we could do.
When I got back home, I wrote a review on their Facebook page explaining exactly what had happened. A few minutes later, my boyfriend received a phone call from the owner asking about our visit. On the phone, she first accused him of not knowing how to use groupon. We clearly know how to use it, and do so frequently. Then, she told him that we should have settled the issue BEFORE doing the room. Her employee literally told us to do the room first and that we would settle it afterwards!!! When my boyfriend asked if there was any way we could get a refund or even a voucher to do their other room, she said "well we already offered you $10 off...". With our horrible experience, I would never consider paying even a discounted rate to return to this company. Becoming frustrated, my boyfriend asked why she called if she wasn't willing to help us or offer us a refund. She told him that she just wanted to confirm that the review I posted was "untruthful" so that she could at least feel better about her business. I'm actually disgusted that this rude woman refuses to give a refund to 2 poor college students who were just trying to use a groupon for an afternoon of fun when it was her confusing booking website and unhelpful employees who were at fault.
Please. Never go to this escape room and support this horrible business.
