  • Strangely enough this is the only Anytime located close to Toronto, the majority of them seem to be on the out skirts of the city like Mississauga, Richmond Hill, Vaughn, Markham and Scarborough... I think there's an Oakville one as well but none in Toronto. I ventured out this way because it was closest to me at the time and although it was very late, around 2am there were still quite a few people here. The gym is located at the base of a condominium right off of Yonge st so I'm not sure if there is any parking other then street parking which I am sure would be scarce during certain peak hrs. I think the location would make this gym one of the busier ones and with the design of this place it would be very difficult to get a decent workout as a result. The layout is actually so awkward in my opinion, you enter through a tiny hall where there is a super small area to put your things. This location has 2 floors so you enter on the top floor where they have all the cardio machines in one row directly facing a blank wall and two machines facing the street in what feels kind of like a fish bowl or window display set up at the very front. One of my major complaints with this brand being their use of floor space and organizing the layout; so much wasted space and under utilized areas where space is already scarce, this location is one of their worst in that way even though they have more sq footage then others Ive visited. Downstairs is where all the weight lifting equipment is and all the machines with 3 bathrooms and of all things a tanning bed. This alone I have always had problems with as I personally have experienced problems with gyms offering tanning but not maintaining or cleaning the beds properly. The layout of the downstairs area creates a funnel effect making space very limited and when you have members camping out on leg machines to watch tv it makes it all the more difficult to get the workout your looking for. At least this location does come with a room where you can find some space to move But with each Anytime Fitness having a different selection of equipment and features it makes it hard to know what facility best suits your needs until you physically visit each location and make a personal note. Which leads me to the main problem I have with this company; it's probation policy that new members cannot see any other facility other then the one they signed up at for at least one month. I feel this policy limits my ability as a consumer to make an educated decision before being stuck with them for a year and honestly leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know if any of you have noticed the steadily declining opinion I have of this company but I do believe that had I had the opportunity to see the other clubs I wouldn't have signed up as none of the facilities suit my needs.
