  • Utterly disappointing! Got the foie gras tasting menu for $85, half of the dishes you could not even taste the foie gras! The appetizer was a gazpacho with foie ice cream. Just some cold soup. The salad was ok, but a tiny tiny portion. However there was a silver dollar size of foie on it, tasted good, and a bit of lobster. The only dish that was completely finished. The wagyu eye was tasteless and kind of dense, although it was soft, but I didn't care for it at all, and the foie mousse was more like liquefied beef liver. The dessert of beignets I actually asked for to go bc I could not stand being in there any longer. The foie gelee you dip it in just tasted like fruit jam. Other things worth noting: We had reservations for 6pm. There were only a few tables in the place, but it took so long between courses for the plates to come. We already informed our server that we had time constraints as we needed to be someplace afterward. I left approx 7:30. Took forever to get the bill too, which came out to $111 for the tasting menu and an order of oysters ($18 for 1/2 doz) The oysters were ok but I can get those anywhere for much less. Also the server was really annoying by always asking if we were done with a dish or not by saying "are you still enjoying this?" *rolleyes* If I was enjoying it, the plate would be empty. The duck fat fries were the amuse buche. They came out lukewarm. The Old bay seasoned ones were way over the top salty. Nothing special, they are just fries. Don't see how the duck fat made any difference. The music they play is terrible. Who's that singer guy that was in the club scene in the first Nutty Professor movie? "This is how we do it" song? they played that. Yes, that song. OMG That was when my bf walked out. Overall experience of my first time at mandalay was a bust over all.
