Flo's was always a favorite during our many trips to Scottsdale years back. It's been about 10 years since our last experience so we were very excited to return. This location, set in an interior strip in The Promenade shopping area is brightly decorated and spacious.
Our efficient server presented us with the regular and lunch menus and all our favorites were still listed. The lunch prices are reasonable but I'm not sure how they compare in size to the dinner portions....they appeared a bit skimpy from the Flo's we remembered.
We started with soup and pot stickers. Their sizzling rice soup is the signature dish that brought us back to Flo's over and over again. It's a humongous bowl fit for two that I used to eat all by myself as a main course. It was flavorful with two patties of sizzling rice. The veggies and chicken were ample, the shrimp not so much. The chicken actually had a really weird, spongy consistency. The taste was ok but I couldn't get over the texture. For our main dish we got the shrimp and pan fried noodle and combination fried rice. Both were good but they can keep the fried wontons they put on the side of their dishes...to me, they seem like filler to make the portions appear larger than they actually are.
Lunch at Flo's was not bad but I'll take a pass next time. I'm more inclined to try someplace new in an attempt to capture that special experience we used to long for.
