| - I bought one of my most recent bikes at Cyclepath, as did my mom and my brother. If you're looking for a decent bike this is the place for you, as long as you're expecting the bare minimum on the follow up.
My mom and brother and I love our bikes from Cyclepath but received customer service below par. With the purchase of our three bikes we were given 2 free tune-ups within two years of owning them. The first tune-up was not a subject of concern because our bikes were still fairly new and did not need much TLC yet. The second time we took them in for a tune-up, however, is when the issues arose.
Before in our first tune-up session, because we had purchased bikes at their store, our names were in their computer system; this made things easy when we brought them in the first time because all they had to do was look up our names and voila, proof that our bikes were purchased in the time frame suitable for our free tune-ups. This year when we brought our bikes in, they supposedly could not find our information and needed us to find the receipts for each bike to prove that we had another free tuneup with them. This was a bit shocking to us seeing as we didn't need receipts for proof the year before. This was the first problem.
I had mentioned specifically to the mechanic that my brakes were not working properly and they needed to be looked at. They were making a terrible squealing noise when I used them and my bike took a long time to come to a complete stop if I tried using my brakes; in short, it felt dangerous for me to ride. I did not care whether I would have been charged extra to pay for my brakes being fixed but I assumed they would have been looked at in the very least. After my mom and I went to pick up our bikes after they had been 'tuned-up' I decided to test my brakes. Turns out that they were not fixed after I specifically asked for them to be looked at for my own safety. I later took my bike to another bike shop in Guelph where my brakes were taken care of immediately.
All in all, my opinion rests that anyone who visits this store will have a good selection of bikes to choose from and some pleasant staff members that will help you select one, but proceed with caution when dealing with your free tune-ups thereafter.
