| - I wanted to get my hair done and stumbled upon Arizona Hair Co and decided to give them a try. Upon arrival, I asked them for their prices and they said $90 for ombré balayage. Hey that's the cheapest I've seen! A stylist grabbed me and asked to see the picture and I showed it to her. She said we will probably get pretty close to the color I want. Which is great.
She started separating my hair and then mixed some color. And then started coloring my hair. I didn't like her technique, I've seen people do balayage before and the way she did it wasn't smooth or professional but she told me she's been a hair dresser for 10 years so I wanted to trust her. After an hour of coloring my hair she decided to take me to the heater and heat the bottom of my hair to get more color. Ok, sure. Sat down and got my hair heated for probably 30 minutes and I told her I think that's enough. I felt like it was too long but she told me to give it another 5-10 minutes to get more color but I told her I think it should be fine so she guided me to the washing station. Washed and toned my hair and did a bunch of other stuff and told me how I'm going to love it, etc. finally she finished washing my hair and took me back to her station and I saw my hair and let me tell you, my blonde wasn't blonde it was WHITE. Not off white, not blonde white, literally a piece of paper white and I was like "....uhh why is it white??" She told me it was really blonde. No, it's not, it's white. Literally white. So she asked me if I wanted to wash it off -- heck yeah please if you can wash the whiteness off! Went for a second round of washing and nope, still white. I sat there, really trying to like my hair and she knew I wasn't happy so she told me if I want I can come back in two days and she can fix it. I didn't go to a salon and spend over $100 to get my hair fixed! I went to the salon to get my hair done and get ready for the summer!
I had to call the manager over and I was like "look, my hair is white!" He was like "you don't want white?" What...the...???!!!! Why would I want my hair white??? He said the picture I showed him there where white streaks in then but they were not white, they were blonde and the sun shined on it so made it seem even lighter. Even so, my hair was no where close to the picture I asked for. He said he's gonna mix some colors and take the white off. I sat there and the receptionist girl was looking at me and I said "it's literally white" and she nodded and said "I'm so sorry" and I started crying. Like wtheck happened to my hair? So as the manager and my stylist were whispering in the back figuring out what they should do, I walked up to them and asked them if I could get my money back. The manager said the register is closed and told me that this color will get the white off. And I was crying it was really all a mess. So I let them put the color on me and and after a few minutes they were done. Sure the white was gone but my hair is back to dark. It's not dark like my natural color it was more of an ugly muddy grey green color. The manager told me I can come back the next day and they will have someone else fix my hair. Fine. It was getting late, I'm tired and they're tired so ok I'll come back.
I went home and washed my hair and sure enough, the color washed off and my hair went from the muddy grey green color to a light grey green color. It looked so dead.
Next day came in and met up with the new lady and she said to me "oh it's not as bad as they said it was!" Yeah ok! They didn't even admit that they were at wrong. They made it seem like I wanted my hair white! And of course they new they messed up but they didn't want to admit it they just wanted to play it off like I chose a color and I ended up didn't want it.
Anyways, the new lady asked me how I want it to be fixed and I told her that the previous stylist didn't add any streaks (like how a balayage is supposed to be) and then she made a blob of blonde on my hair and I'd like that to be fixed. And of course, color correcting the green grey mess that they put on my head. After all was done, I ended up with super damaged hair, weirdly streaked balayage, and a little more color than when I first came in with.
The manager offered a free conditioning but look, I don't want to come back. And I'm never coming back. The only reason why they're getting 2 stars from me because I actually liked my first hair stylist cuz she was really nice, bad at her job, but really nice. And overall, they did try to fix it. So 2 stars for effort.
Overall, like I said, I came in here to get my hair done, not fixed. Not only did they super damaged my hair from all the bleach, the final product was not even close to what I wanted. They charged me 90 for coloring and then 16 for toning. I rather pay an additional 8 dollars and go to Toni & Guy where the atmosphere is better, place is cleaner, and workers are more professional.
