| - Excellent but accessible French food can be difficult to find. The best places are often mired in complex and difficult to decipher menu description and/or ruined by stuffy service. The more accessible places can easily dumb down the food resulting in bland food covered by thick, heavy sauces.
The Eiffel Tower restaurant strikes a remarkable and enjoyable balance by preparing many traditional french dishes, but explaining them in an enjoyably simple - but not dumbed down - manner and avoiding too many exotic ingredients that would turn off the average diner (escargot are not in every dish...).
As what may be an "above average" diner though, the menu, food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. It was a special occasion meal for us, being the anniversary of our engagement under the Eiffel Tower (the real one in Paris) while we were on our honeymoon. My new bride was a little wary of going to an all-French restaurant, but found plenty to choose from. All our food was excellent, from start to finish. The sauces were rich and silky, but never heavy and smothering.
Service was excellent, with the entire staff from the elevator operators to the busboys providing elegant, dignified service. As for atmosphere, it is a dark, classy restaurant with small white linen-covered tables. The view can be amazing - it is right across from the Bellagio hotel and resort and has a front row view of the fountain shows.
Not a cheap place for dinner, but highly recommended for a special occasion event.
