So the remodel is done, everyone. Whitewashed brick walls. Booths, tables, and chairs are beautifully crafted wood pieces. There is ironwork all around. The upstairs looks like the downstairs. The stairwell to upstairs as switched to the entrance side of the space. The first and second floors are completely sealed off so that might mean no more noise bleeding from upstairs or down. I do find the space beautiful. I'm sure I will enjoy coming here as much as I did the old space. But I have to admit I missed the warm colors and plush seats. If the food is good, I can get over it.
My group of friends visited on a bright sunny Farmer's Market Saturday. One of the out of towners had loved Brocach's when she lived here, so we were happy to find it open. At our table, we ordered the Mussels, 2 Fish and Chips, 2 Bangers and Mash, and the Rachel sandwich. Everyone reported everything was very good. I found my fish's breading to be a bit soggy. I hope it was just do to the new re-opening. The Mussels dish was the only one I had not tried in the past and the flavor was really good. The broth uses Guinness and it's a winner.
I hope to upgrade my stars as the new kitchen gets their footing and the crowds come back.
