  • I've been with Riverset for a few months now after leaving PNC due to their investment in the DAPL. So far, I'm happy with the service and wanted to offer a positive review to counteract the many negative reviews here. I'm using their Simple Checking account, Simple Savings account, and Payback Plus credit card (2% cash back on all purchases!). There is a monthly service charge of $7, but if you have a credit card with Riverset or if your average balance is over $500, the fee is waived, so it is essentially a free checking and savings account. You also earn a bit of interest in the checking account, which is nice. Their online banking is a bit clunky, but you can do all the main things like check your balance, transfer funds (including via Popmoney), and their mobile banking app has a mobile check deposit feature, which works just fine. The credit card management app and credit card rewards app are separated from the main online banking app, and you need separate logins for those, which is a bit annoying. But, ultimately, they all work and do their job. I haven't had any issues with paying bills, redeeming cash back rewards, etc. One other slight annoyance is that their online banking does not connect to Mint for account aggregation. I would have liked to have seen that. I think if they could tie all their banking services together (savings/checking/credit card/rewards) and allow aggregation into Mint, I would give them 5 stars. But I understand they are a small credit union and probably don't have the resources to invest in improving their tech. They only have one branch in the South Side, which is a little inconvenient, but I almost never go to a branch since I do all my banking online or with my phone. All PNC ATMs are free to use for Riverset customers, which is a nice plus and offsets the inconvenience of only having one branch. Overall, aside from the clunkiness of the online banking, I really have no complaints about Riverset. They offer most of the features that I need, and I feel good about taking my business to a local credit union instead of a huge corporation like PNC.
