| - UPDATE: I filed a fraud claim with my insurance, which recently closed. Insurance is denying charge related to the surgery and they are going to recoup money from doctor. COMPARE WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE BILLING AND WHAT THEY DO END UP BILLING!!!!
Absolutely the worst - don't bother going here. You are just a number to them...they are a churn and burn office! Yes, doctor knows what he is doing; however he can't seem to convey that to his patients or in this case the parents of the patients. Trying to get an appointment takes forever waiting on the phone, you won't see the doctor for at least a month...that's how far he's booked out, and you'll wait in the office forever after your appt time to see him. Staff is very unhelpful and quick to pass you around the office. Although they stated the person that worked the surgery files/piece was no longer there - the process of actually getting the surgery approved by the insurance was awful. There was no follow through by the doctors office, so I was left making phone calls the business day prior to get the surgery to get it expedited when I had scheduled it well in advance.
So the surgery center called to confirm the appt and what was being performed two days before the surgery. What they told me was different than what the doctor was performing. I called the doctors office 4 times to try to get someone to clarify. I was passed to the doctors nurse that was ZERO help. She claimed according to the doctors notes that I was told what was being performed and made no attempt to help clarify. She stated that I needed to see the doctor for clarification. So now I had to drop everything to see the doctor (who has no availability) to get clarification. Had to argue with her that I had been trying to schedule the appt for months. She magically got me in the next day.
My husband and I show up to the "clarification" appt, only to be CHARGED! I tried to argue that I wanted the clarification over the phone and not have to go in...but they were going to refuse to see us. Lady said that it was a mandatory charge by the insurance...ummm well that's because you are charging the insurance. My husband paid it. However, once we got in the doctor (after the scheduled appt time by 45 mins) said that they name the surgery center is the technical term. Well why the heck didn't you tell me that to begin with??? So now I had to pay for a clarification appt to be told something I could've been told over the phone! And better yet, we waited all that time to be in the doctors office for 5 mins. I desperately wish I had charged it on my own credit card, so I could call and dispute the charge.
The day of the surgery, while we were trying to soothe our hangry baby - come to find out the actual surgery was scheduled 2 1/2 hours after the appt time, I was able to look at the doctors notes, as they were left in with us while waited and they appeared template in fashion. Little detail specific to my son and his condition/surgery...no wonder the nurse couldn't provide any assistance!!!
Needless to say I'll be sending ALL my notes from the doctors visits and snapshots of the doctors notes that I viewed in the surgery center along to the insurance company to ensure everything was correctly billed.
The only thing that made up for everything - the surgery center was great. The nurse there was able to explain what was happening in general terms. They were so nice, were able to guide us through the time table, and what to expect after.
