  • This may be a review based on a membership at the McKenzie Towne goodlife, but it is an indictment on all Goodlife policy. I am approaching 50 and have led a very healthy life, including many triathlons, marathons and Ironman, but I was never a "gym" person. With my knees and shoulders giving out I thought I would try the local gym, and although I tend to shy away from monopolies which Goodlife surely is, I tried it anyway. Big mistake. A gym like this staffs itself with young pretty people who know less about fitness than your average grade 6 student. The limited number of trainers (who are not available to the general members) are still part of the pretty but not necessarily knowledgeable about human physiology. No one including management has voice mail or email. This is so people can't leave a message to say they need to cancel or postpone memberships, you have to go in to talk to someone. I can't tell you how many times I was ushered in to sit at a table to wait for someone, and how virtually every time I had to remind the front desk I was there. Never less than a 10 minute wait. AS if its policy to frustrate people into leaving. I had just purchased a new bootcamp package for 300 bucks, and then days later severely injured my shoulder, and with doctors advice decided to cancel the gym and the bootcamp. Goodlife wouldn't do it without a doctors note. When I got the note, and went it and did the dance of waiting and meeting with two different people they said they would cancel the bootcamp and my membership but they didn't. First they only refunded half of the bootcamp because it took them so long to do it, the bootcamp was half over and someone assumed I had done half the camp. It took me another month to convince someone to refund the balance and like a dummy I trusted them. I find out now months later that they didn't refund my balance and for some reason they started taking monthly dues out again. I guarantee this is company policy to make more money, to hell with the members. This gym, their management and the whole company are a bunch of cheap crooks. NEVER JOIN A GOODLIFE, EVER
