Woodbine Park is a hidden gem in the east.
I ride my bike around or through this park almost everyday and it has so many personalities.
In the early morning you might find a couple people walking their dog. It's so nice and secluded and peaceful near the pond. But in the afternoon it transforms in to a hub of activity. Mostly due to the splash pad in the west end of the park near Northern Dancer Blvd. If i was a kid i'd definitely be playing there! There are benches along some of the pathways near the pond and marsh areas. I just love it. Sit and watch the ducks and there is a pretty swan too.
In the summer there are several festivals that take place here as well. The Beaches Jazz Festival, Ribfest, Waterfront Blues Fest, the Muhtadi International Drum Festival, and just this past week as i was riding my bike home there was some kind of kids fair set up. I don't know what it was, but there was trampolines, bouncy castle and a CN Safety Train tootin' around. Looked super fun.
If you still want to enjoy the sun, but not get sand up in every crevice at the Beach, then cross the street to Woodbine Park, lay out your blanket and chill.
