| - We went to "Piece of Me" during our recent trip to Vegas. We are not big Britney Spears fans, so this was more of a "which show should we see" as opposed to an OMG experience. Decent seats are around $100, which is pretty standard for any good show in Las Vegas.
The venue is nice enough and she filled the place for our show. I agree with several reviews that suggest video screens showing Britney and the dancers would improve the experience. The entrance to the venue is in the Miracle Mile shops, just off the Planet Hollywood casino. The lobby has some of Britney's costumes from her videos on display.
Not being a big fan, I was impressed by the song book she has compiled. The show ran nearly 90 minutes and I had heard most of the songs at one time or another.
It is pretty well known that the show is lip-synced. With this in mind, I was impressed that the show had a live band playing the music (I guess that only the vocal track is recorded). The musicians really need to have this down to keep the music in sync with the "singing".
At the end of the day, this is more of a production show than concert since the singing is not live. Looking at it this way, I compare it more to a Cirque du Soleil show than a concert at Caesars. At a Cirque show, you get more entertainment (with recorded music) than at Britney's show. But, you don't get Britney at a Cirque show. I have not been blown away by any of the shows I have seen in Vegas, and this is on par with the rest. So, 3 stars.
