  • I was in Pittsburgh as a spectator for the world pinball championship (yes, it's a real thing). I did not intend to stay at a hotel, but staying in a full house of 12 acquaintances and strangers to save a few dollars was not worth the sacrifice of sanity that it demanded. I got a very reasonable rate for what came with staying at the hotel. I normally would consider this to be out of my budget, but time was of the essence when it came to finding accommodations. I'm sure the rates vary depending on time of year, local events, etc. but my room was $199/night. For this price, I was put in a very nice suite, complete with a refrigerator, microwave, queen-sized bed (with reading lights!), sofa, flat-screen TV, desk, tray-table, and spacious bathroom with a shower (no bath). Everything was new, stylish, comfortable and in working order! Additionally, breakfast is free, including a hot buffet and made-to-order meals. The hotel advertised that they carry options for even the "pickiest of eaters", and they sure lived up to that claim (I'm a very picky eater and found many enjoyable selections)! The food did not taste like it should have been free. It was delicious. The salt-water pool is on the 25th floor and offers stunning views of the Pittsburgh skyline and rolling Pennsylvania hills. The pool is warm and relaxing, the perfect way to begin or end one's day. There is also a fitness center, which I did not use. Valet parking is available for a fee, which I will opt not to complain about, as I automatically assumed the parking situation would not be free or cheap. However, the valet staff is top-notch, and the convenience that comes along with valet parking made my trip much easier. The staff at this hotel gets an A++ from me! From the moment I pulled into the valet to the time I checked out, I was continuously wowed by how much the employees seem to genuinely care about meeting the guest's needs. Every department provided superior service - valet, front desk, housekeeping, restaurant, and the manager who happened to be nearby while I was leaving and made it a point to ensure I had a great stay. This hotel is in a prime location, in close proximity (walking distance) to many stores, restaurants/bars, and other attractions in downtown Pittsburgh. I travel to Pittsburgh once or twice per year, and this hotel will be my first choice for my next stay if the rates at the time fall within my budget!
