We had an enjoyable evening at Ocean Prime. The food was good and the wait staff seemed attentive. Is it on par with some of the better restaurants I've visited, no, not quite but still very good. My Arctic char was good but slightly under seasoned. They had salt on the table but I hate the taste of iodized salt so I used it very sparingly. My companions both loved their dishes (filet and seared ahi tuna). The beet salad on their Sonoma menu was terrific and it reminded me of Sonoma where I used to live. The big disappointment was the Siduri wine that was paired with the "Sonoma" menu. I've tasted wine at the Siduri winery many times (15 min from where I lived) so I knew it would be a solid choice. Unfortunately, that is where they stumbled. Instead of a Sonoma Pinot, they served the Willamette Valley Pinot and we didn't catch it until we started talking about the wine and how it didn't taste like it came from Sonoma. It was still a good wine but it felt like a bait and switch which left a blemish on an otherwise great meal. (Just so you know the Willamette valley is in Oregon and Sonoma is in California....sure it was still made by Siduri but that isn't the point.). I hope it was an honest mistake by our server and not really deception on their part.
