  • Started going to this facility about year ago with my two dogs. They had their office visit together and got all their shots and flea/heartworm meds. Pretty pricey but it usually is when I take both dogs in for their yearly work up. I was disappointed that they didn't waive or discount the office visit for one of my dogs since I brought them in at the same time. I worked as a vet tech in the past at a few different facilities and that was the case at every single one. Alright, not a big deal. Dr. Kelly seemed okay at the time, nothing special. Had to take one of my dogs in last week for an emergency visit. I was also expecting a high bill since I knew he would need x-rays and bloodwork. I was even willing to buy the expensive food to help get his tummy back in order and send the x-rays out to be examined by a specialist. I was not impressed with how Dr. Kelly treated me, my dog, or my son this visit. She didn't say anything to my 4 year old son. She was very afraid of my dog. Even with his muzzle on she would back away from him. Yes he growls, yes I put the muzzle on him, but she is a vet, she should know that animals get scared and she should know how to approach them. Every vet I have worked for in the past had the confidence to deal with upset or scary dogs. She was very condescending towards me. I don't know if my appearance bothered her (I do have some tattoos). She did call me back later that day with the x-ray results and said she would call back the following day with the bloodwork results. The tech called me the next day with the results and said they would like to do another blood test test that would require 12 hours of fasting for my dog. Fine, I can do that. Was told on the phone I would just need to bring my dog in, they would take him back and draw his blood then return him to me, no office visit required. I was also given the price over the phone so I knew what to expect. Finally to today, took my dog in at the scheduled time for his blood draw (poor thing had been fasting for over 14 hours since they couldn't get me in until a little later in the morning). Decided to pre-muzzle my dog so they could take him back easier and in case there were any other dogs in reception. Had my son was with me again. Walked in and was quickly given attitude. Again, don't know if my tattoos throw people off. I am a paying customer like anyone else and I muzzled my dog before coming in to make everyone else comfortable. Yes he growled at people and other pets. I know it makes people uncomfortable but there is nothing else I can do. He was excited, scared, and uncomfortable in the muzzle. We had to wait 20 minutes which is fine since I know how things can be in the back. I did not appreciate the looks I got from the employees and other customers while we waited. Every time my dog growled or barked I got a dirty look. I asked to pay while waiting and was told I could not since they hadn't decided on the blood test, even though I had been told on the phone what they were doing and had been quoted for it. My dog is taken back and comes back within 5 minutes since it was just blood draw. I was then told I needed to pay $35 more than what I was quoted, which was for just the blood draw. They wanted me to pay for an office visit too. My dog did not see the vet (nor did I) and was not put in an exam room. I was told even if the dog was seeing the tech it was $35. I have two problems with this: 1) I have never been charged an office visit fee for a blood draw before and when I was a tech we never did either. When a quote is given for a blood draw it should include the price of the test, hazardous waste fees, and nominal fee for the handling of the blood by the tech (usually about $10). 2) if I had been told this on the phone and quoted an accurate price then I would't have been so upset. At this point I had already spent close to $500 in tests, meds, and specialty food. And to top it off, I received a ton of insincere apologizes from the reception staff. Moral of the story: Not going back after I get the bloodwork results I paid for. Update: After I wrote this review I received a phone call from a tech telling me that they had charged me for the wrong test. They quoted me and charged me for a test that was only about $52 (and I was also charged the $35 office fee). They now wanted to charge me $80 more for the test that they actually wanted to run. They had two opportunities prior to the phone call to tell me about this test. So not only did they not tell me about the office visit charge before but they also couldn't communicate the actual test my dog needed.
