  • First off, this review is about "Le Café Bar" the restaurant in - and run by - the Le Centre Sheraton Hotel. I stopped by this restaurant as I was waiting for a friend who was staying at the hotel, as we were planning on eating there for dinner. Since I got there early to wait I sat at the bar and decided to just have a drink to kill time. There were no bar menus available, and I (mistakenly) assumed that prices would be similar to several of the other places I had been at in the surrounding blocks, as this place seemed nowhere special. I ordered a local beer, and was asked if I wanted a half pint or a full pint (I believe they were imperial pints), and figuring that I only wanted to spend a few dollars ordered the half pint. After waiting around for a while and eventually meeting my friend I cashed out at the bar only to find out that my half pint beer was $9. I wasn't so angry at this as I was when I asked how much the full pint was - $10. If I had ordered a pint of beer and found out it was $10, I would have been a little upset, but finding out that the bartender neglected to offer me the obvious upsell choice was really a kick in the pants. To be fair and put this in context I'm also not the kind of person that's looking for the cheapest beer out there - I have had plenty of $10 half pints in my day, and enjoyed them. All the beer prices at Le Café Bar were the same - if I had ordered a Bud Light it still would have been $9. After finding out this pricing we decided we'd look at the menu before getting a table. It made sense that the place was so empty - the cheapest meal on the menu was a plain burger for $18. We decided to walk around the corner to much better restaurants where I was able to get a phenomenal meal for only $16. It's a hotel bar/restaurant, and it's my fault for not looking at the prices ahead, but their fault for trying to stick it to you. Short review - buyer beware.
