  • I'll be honest, this is not my normal barber, but I am not as close to the other barber as this one so I tried to patronize a business that was closer to me. I went here before and got an OK haircut, but again I am used to my other barber's quality so when comparing it to most barbers in Vegas it was pretty good. I went a 2nd time and the haircut was the same. The third time I attempted to go I was displeased with the quality of service I received. The biggest problem with African American barbershops in Vegas is time management and appointment keeping. If you set one it's because your time is valuable to you and you don't want to wait forever. I contacted my original barber, Derrick earlier in the day to let him know I'd be in between 5:40 and 6:00 pm. I arrived at 5:50. So when I came in on time I expected service relatively shortly, but there was another patron in the chair. All I got from the barber was a hello, not a "sorry about the wait" or "I'll be with you as soon as possible". I understood that the 20 minute time frame was not concrete, but I also did not know how long the customer had been in the chair and thought maybe they'd be done soon enough. I was trying to be loyal and not barber hop when I got there so I just expected more professionalism on his behalf when I arrived. I waited over 30 minutes, which tells me he took on his client around the time I was set to come in as I don't know many cuts that take 30 minutes to finish up. I decided to call my other barber. He was free and I know he was far away, but I drove there because I knew that when I arrived he'd be ready for me and not have me waiting half an hour or more. Ten minutes after I left while I was on my way I did receive a text saying the chair was free, but by then I had been turned off from the lack of professionalism. Mind you, I was going to have to drive 20 minutes away and it would take more time for me to get the other cut and drive back home to get ready, but for me it was the principle. Don't get me wrong, they do OK work from what I've seen and they provide a nice environment for the customers. I don't hear much foul language, craziness, or foolishness. They are respectful to each other and the patrons, and the environment is pretty chill. The two times I did get my hair cut by Derrick were smooth. I've never been disrespected while in the shop and all interactions by all the staff have been friendly. I just recognize that because I am free to spend my money how I would like it, I don't tolerate certain behaviors or lacking service regardless of the type of business. I don't know how common this type of situation is at this shop, but from the vibe I get the shop is run professionally overall. I simply believe it's little things like this that can improve the flow of the business. I wish them all the success in the future, but I more than likely will not return to this shop. If I do, I'll be sure to let you all know about it.
