What a gem! We came across Canonita while shopping at the Grand Canal Shops at the Palazo.
The management, staff and chefs were amazing! We weren't sure if we wanted to sit and eat so they brought us menus to look over while we watched the chef make corn tortillas by hand. The manager saw us staring at the chef and brought us two fresh hot tortillas to have. That sold us! They were so delicious and the people were so nice we decided to sit down.
They have a great happy hour! $5 drinks! We got two each of the RumChata and the PassionFuit Margarita. Both delicious drinks!! You have to like Horchata to like the Rumchata.
The food was delicious!!
The Barbacoa was melt in your mouth amazing with the sauces and the tender pork! Oh I dream about that dish! It also came with the house made tortillas, which we were in love with! Which was paired perfectly with the Spinach and Manchengo salad. Loved every bite!
It is located right on the end of the canal towards one end of the shops. You are away from the public but get a great serenade by the gondoliers every time one of them float by. The space is large and has patio-esque seating. (Where you think you are outside but aren't really.)
I would love to go back here! Kudos to the staff and the servers! All amazing!
