  • Decent quality for the price. I ordered one of the company's much talked about photo books shortly after Christmas. I uploaded the photos from my phone via the Shutterfly app and after filling out the billing and shipping info, I know that I had probably only spent a handful of minutes designing the look and feel of my book. Seriously, my part was done and over with after maybe four minutes and then I called it a day. I didn't put much effort forth in creating my "masterpiece," so I didn't know what to expect. I'd never used Shutterfly before this, but the process seemed pretty quick and painless, not to mention fairly inexpensive, so I was down for it. After all, I didn't spend hours copiously designing fancy borders and all for my book, so maybe my expectations were not ridiculously high. I received my book in the mail before the estimated ship date, which meant the turnaround was about 8-9 days. I thought that post-Christmas, the timing seemed pretty reasonable. Overall, I was pleased with the majority of the book. The cover looked great and most of the pictures came out quite well. However, two of the photos that I uploaded from my Iphone that looked exquisite as they were didn't come out so well. For some reason, they were not cropped appropriately or anything. It's like they just cut off at the bottom. I don't understand it and I was rather looking forward to seeing those two photos in my photo book as they appeared in their original form, but unfortunately, the shots (which were selfies) don't look like they do on my phone or on FB or Instagram, where I also uploaded them. I'm disappointed by that and had no idea that they would turn out like that. Did I need to crop them myself or was that the fault of Shutterfly? I truly don't know, but either way, I don't see why the perfectly gorgeous photos were laid out as they were on the pages when they don't look like that in my phone or when I printed them from FB. Weird. The rest of the photos looked high quality and the pages were laid out in the order in which the pics were uploaded to the app. I was pleased with the rest of the book, the cover came out just as I hoped it would and the overall price of the book wasn't bad (retails for $29.99 and up), especially with the first time user discount applied to it. Still, those two shots that were haphazardly chopped off do stick out like a sore thumb. One odd thing that I noticed, though? The photo book pages have a rather distinctive, fairly strong smell to them that I hope will dissipate with time. Will I use the Shutterfly app/website to order more products in the future? I'm willing to give them another try. I still like the overall product and the process is as easy as can be. I'm a busy girl, so something that is that user-friendly always gets points with me.
