I was in Phoenix for four days, and I ate at Green four times, and even twice in one day. I would have gone again if I had more time before I had to get to the airport. So what kept bringing me back?
This place is all vegan and has tons of gluten-free options. They even have a separate gluten free menu that explains what they have and how to order to make sure you get what you want. They even have gluten free beer, and it's only $3. If it's busy, someone will come out to the line and start taking people's orders to move things along more quickly. And the people who work there are super friendly and helpful.
As I said, I went four times, and I ordered something different each time. My favorite was the salad with mock chicken and artichoke hearts. It was so delicious that I wish I could have it at every meal. It was a substantial salad that more than filled me up for lunch for less than $10. I tried a couple of the different po boys - one on a gluten free bun (which I do not recommend - it was kind of dry and tasteless), and one with gluten free tortillas (recommended). You can go to Nami next door for vegan desserts, several of which are gluten free.
I just love that everything is so well marked, and the employees are helpful and understanding. Not having to struggle to find something to order or to get the employees to understand my dietary restrictions was a welcome change. The fact that the food is also quite tasty made it even better.
I would gladly go here every day if there were one near where I live.
