  • Let me cut right to the chase before I delve into the details: This is the pediatric dental office you want. My 2 year old bumped one of her front teeth a few months ago and it's been a watch and wait situation. It started with a small pink speck which slowly got a little bigger and darker, then eventually got a small perforation (hole) in the tooth which then turned it to a light shade of grey where the bump was initially. You guys...I STRESSED OUT over this beyond what any normal, rational person should. I saw another pediatric dentist who recommended extracting the tooth, which was not what I was hoping for. I just kept envisioning every photo for the next 6+ years of my sweet girl being toothless. Then because of her age the procedure recommended would require sedation or anesthesia which scared me even more. I was sick about this. See, I told you! Who knew I'd be such a crazy mom? I reluctantly scheduled the extraction with the other office and then worried and stressed about this all over again (and again and again). So after about a week and a half of going back and forth over this in my head, my sweet girls tooth started to chip off. Then I really started freaking out. "OMG. What it it just keeps breaking off and then she's in serious pain??" Calm down, Carolyn. I ended up calling Arizona Pediatric Specialists because they had initially been recommended to me by a faculty member at AT Still. I explained to them all of my concerns. The office is not in network for my insurance and I had hesitated calling them before because of this but with all of my uncertainty and not loving the initial office we visited, I decided I would bite the bullet and go anyway. You guys. This office is amazing. AMAZING. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. It's clean, inviting, decorated with trains! My daughter is crazy about trains. She was in heaven! In fact, the she even cried during the exam because she wanted to go back out the the front and play with the trains again. The front office staff was so accommodating, they made me feel like we were the only patients being seen that day. Then we met Dr. Clark, and if I hadn't already been impressed by everything else so far, I would have been so happy with our visit just based on him alone. He was so friendly and gentle with my crying and wiggly toddler and he listened to my whole sordid and ridiculous story with patience and kindness. We talked about a couple of different treatment options and Dr. Clark has opted to try and save her tooth with a baby root canal and a crown. How amazing is that? Perhaps I won't have a toothless toddler after all! The treatment coordinator helped me get checked out and made sure I had all the info I needed for our followup appointment and she was just as nice as everyone else had been, which, if you haven't picked up on it yet, they were all as sweet as could be. Definitely feeling the love at this place and beyond thankful that this is where we ended up (even though I should have just gone here to begin with). I have complete confidence in this amazing office and I'm actually looking forward to coming back.
