  • I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience, one of many similar ones I've had at Canadian Tire stores, and I'm quite frankly completely fed up.   I brought my car to the store to replace my turn signal and hazard fuse and relay. I completed these myself ( parts desk staff was extremely helpful in this regard, none of my negative experience has to do with them). When that didn't fix my issue I went to consult with the guys in the auto repair department. They said the issue was likely the switch and replacing it would likely fix it. I told them great, let's do that. I was told it would take an hour. I declined to do the big car wide electrical diagnostic as we were fairly sure the issue was the switch. Not even half an hour later I got a call saying the switch was replaced and the issue wasn't fixed and it was likely an electrical problem and they needed to do a diagnostic.   My problem with this is that it is extremely simple to test the signal light switch with a multimeter, which should have been done before replacing the switch. That's not running a diagnostic on the car, that's checking out the part that we agreed to look into. Secondly, the man helping me wrote in my bill that I had refused all diagnostics including of the switch itself, which is not true at all. He recommended the switch be replaced as he prattled on about how fixing the switch in his audi had totally fixed the same issue. What I declined was the hour long full car electrical diagnostic. Seeing as testing the switch itself is such a simple task, never did I assume they were including that in my declining a full on diagnostic.   In a recap, I paid 222.00, including an hour labor charge, for a 25 minute job to replace a part that worked perfectly fine because it wasn't tested before replacing, and then was made to look like I mandated it be that way, and was then asked to fork over another 135.00 for a full on diagnostic. When I approached the corporate office and manager about this issue, the customer service rep told me that I had declined a diagnostic and that testing the switch would just have been a waste of time, and their only solution was to offer me half off the diagnostic, ie. spend more money with them. At this point my own mechanic had found the issue inside of ten minutes and charged me $60. Please DO NOT take your car here. They don't care about your car, your safety, or you as a customer.
