  • I brought a dealfind groupon for 3, 20 minute teeth whitening sessions for $42, regular $297, because I figured I could use a teeth whitening to counteract my daily coffee and weekly red wine indulgences. The color of my teeth are not "disgusting", but there is room for improvement. I have used professional teeth whitening kits from my dentist with good results, but they make my teeth so sensitive, that i rarely maintain it. What attracted me to trying World White Smiles, was the claim that it was safe, with minimal discomfort. Bonus! When I came in, the techician took my coupon with no hassle, had me sign a waiver and escorted me to a dentist chair, where she first put in a tray that exposed my teeth like a creepy, alien-like frown, and she applied the teeth whitener. She put some pink safety glasses on me and aimed a blue LED light at my teeth. I had a blast taking pictures with my iphone and sending them to my friends. The whitener is only applied to the teeth visible when you smile, so it does not extend to all teeth, which is fine with me. The timer went on for 20 mins. Ding! Once done, the tray came out, I rinsed my mouth, and did it again for a total of 3x. When I checked my teeth after the tree treatments, I was disappointed that there was barely a difference. The technician explained it takes about 24 hours to see results. Now there WAS a slight difference, but it was at best a shade of improvement. I have seen the shading charts from my dentist trays, so I am familiar with what the different shades of improvement look like. The technician asked me not to eat anything for one hour, and no staining foods for 24 hours, such as red wine, coffee, beets, chocolate, etc. No problemo! I was charged GST on my groupon of $3.95 on the way out, and I tipped the technician $10 and headed back to work. 30 mins after treatment =================== My teeth felt mildly sensitive. Not nearly as sensitive as one session with my dentist trays. The inside of my lips feel a little bizarre when I run my tongue on them, but when I look at them, they feel normal. Color of teeth still hasn't changed much. Hungry. Only 30 more minutes before I can eat. Filled my one litre water bottle and got back to work, since I was told to drink a lot of water. 30 mins later, 1 hr after treatment. =========================== Starving. Ate two hard boiled eggs, a gala apple and broth based homemade soup. No staining foods like the technician asked. Sensitivity is now almost gone. Checked teeth. Still no change in color. Im jonesing a bit ... I'm not gonna lie... Another hour later... ================ Checked in the mirror, and there is still no change. Have drank half a litre of water. Made the decision to stop obsessing and to move onto more important tasks. Will check after work in two more hours when my work day ends. 10 Minute Later ============ One of my yelp friends checked into Starbucks. I'm instantly jealous, because I can't have coffee for 24 hours. Start fantasizing about an extra large coffee, double milk, no sugar. End of Work Day... =============== No Change. Drink full litre of water Heading to bed ================== No Change Next Morning... ============ No Change 23.5 Hours after last treatment.... ============================ Sigh.... not even a remote change. My conclusion? In my experience with my teeth, and following the instructions (drinking water, eating no staining agents), that this treatment on my teeth did not make much of a difference. For $42, plus $3.95 GST at the door, plus a $10 tip for the technician, it was a worthwhile experiment. However, had I paid full price for this, I would have held them accountable. The claims on the website suggest instant results and up to 8 shades whiter. Are my teeth whiter? Yes. Are they "up to" 8 shades whiter? Yes. Possibly 1 shade whiter. I am giving them a star for service (they were nice to deal with), and I am giving them a star because technically, they delivered as promised. I doc'ed them 3 stars for the following reasons: - an expectation with me that was not delivered through their advertisement - Parking was an absolute nightmare. This isn't the fault of the busines, but it is a reality of doing business with this company. - In total, I was out of the office 2.5 hours. That was the commute there and back, lack of parking, plus the time there to get the 3 treatments, while the tech was juggling myself and another treatment. As an IT consultant, I lose my hourly rate for my time away from work, so lets just say I "almost" paid full price for the treatment. I wanted to share my personal experience. This company did "technically" deliver as advertised, but for my teeth, the trays from the dentist are a better option to get the results I would like to see.
