The Preserve at Ballantyne Commons was a terrible place to live or do business because of a management team that was vindictive, unethical and unprofessional. This is only my experience but I pass it along so hopefully nobody else has to go through the same difficulty I did.
The apartments themselves are of the quality of something you would find in Pineville or Independence Blvd. If you're new to the area that means they are run down and a little old.
Average price for a one bedroom runs about $900 at the time of this writing and is not a good value for the money.
Management will try to trick you into purchasing overpriced, liability-only renters insurance from them mid-lease by sending you a letter saying they have no renters insurance on file and you need to buy theirs or prove you have your own to avoid violating the lease agreement. The way everything is worded makes it seem like you are at fault and didn't adhere to the lease agreement and is overall very shady.
Unless you set up automatic payments it will cost you $25 a month in "convenience fees" to pay rent.
When I moved out the assistant property manager fabricated damages then refused to show me proof of such while the head manager claimed to know nothing of what was going on. After working out a fair payment to be rid of this headache with the CWS Apartment homes corporate office the Preserve office staff held on to the check I sent for payment for well over a month. I was also sent to collections and will now have to deal with the credit bureaus directly even though I paid(for fabricated damages).
If you can move anywhere else, do it. The Preserve at Ballantyne Commons is the worst place I've had the misfortune of living at in Charlotte.
