| - Recently took my vehicle in for a regular maintenance check. While waiting, the sales sharks will cruise the waiting area trying to sniff out potential sales victims. With time to kill, I (against my better judgement) took the bait. Took a test drive, hashed around some numbers, and was then asked to fill out some paperwork "just to see if we can get the numbers down". While filling out the paperwork, I specifically and pointedly asked the sales shark if he was going to do a hard credit inquiry. He replied, "No, absolutely not. This is just to see if we can get the numbers where you need them." We ended with no deal and I went on my way. Yesterday, I checked my creditkarma report, and my score had dropped by more than 20 points on Equifax and TransUnion. Of course, the offender was Scott Clark Nissan. They had indeed done a hard inquiry which will now negatively effect my credit rating for the next 2 years. I stopped in to SCN today to speak to the store manager. While he did apologize for the incident, he was entirely disinterested in taking any corrective action and put the onus completely on me, stating that I had signed the authorization. He had no issue at all with his sales shark lying to my face and making misleading statements.
