  • Surprisingly, out of our many stays at the Aria, this was the first time we passed by this restaurant and finally decided to delve into the flavors of the Spanish tapas at Julian Serrano's eatery. Honestly, we always thought we'd be hungry after eating tapas, since they tend to be smaller portions. We were definitely wrong about that. Each shareable dish was sooo- rich that each bite was decadent and filling. We loved it here. This is what we decided to try: Tuna Cones - Ahi tuna tartare, crispy wontons, avocado, cucumber and ponzu sauce served in a cone. Some of the best tuna tartare I've ever had! Short Rib Tapas - Spanish style prime short ribs, cranberry, and beans. Very tender, delicate meat full of flavor. Seafood Zarzuela - Asian sea bass, shrimp, crab, mussels, calamari. This was served in a thick broth. It had a slight orange tint to it. We wish we had bread so we could've dipped into this wonderful broth even after we finished savoring the sea bass, shrimp, crab, mussels, and calamari. One of our favorite tapas that evening. Crab black rice - Dungeness crab, blue foot shrimp and calamari. This reminded us of a black rice risotto. It had a buttery texture and flavor and the Dungeness crab was fresh and amazing. This was probably the richest of the tapas that we tasted that evening. Spanish Charcuterie - My husband managed to fit this in even after we consumed the above dishes. He substituted this as a "dessert" instead of churros or molten chocolate cake. With chorizo and pork loin cuts, I guess you really can't go wrong to polish a meal off with this, or even start a meal this way. I didn't get a chance to try any though because he finished it all before I could. As far as drinks go, I had the Agua de Serrano. It's basically like a Serrano margarita. The rim was covered in a sweet sugar sprinkled with some chili pepper. The rim was also decorated with an actual hot pepper which they warned me not to bite into. I headed their advice...this time. It was surprisingly sweet and spicy at the same time. Service was great the entire time. At first I was afraid they wouldn't let us in, since we had just come from a cabana day at the pool, but they welcomed us with open arms. Premo was an awesome waiter. He took over for another fella who I could not remember his name, which I regret because he was awesome too. Would I return here? Yes! In a heart beat. I'm just so sad that we didn't discover this place any sooner!!
