| - Went into Serenade a few times now. Once for a meeting, once for a quick coffee-run and just recently, I had the time to sit and hangout with some friends. Glad I waited to review, to compare my experiences.
Of their drinks, I've had two: Pistachio Latte, warm & Raspberry Macchiato, iced. The pistachio latte was great and it was milky, creamy, sweet but not too sweet. It came warm but I was hoping it was going to be "hot". I like it better that way.
The macchiato too was yummy iced and had chocolate along the sides. Raspberry and chocolate are perfect complements, so two thumbs up for creating a chocolate-drizzled raspberry liquid dessert =) The pricing is what you expect from a trendy little coffee shop, so don't think it's any cheaper than Starbucks.
OMG GUYS. Then there was the Honey Toast with Vanilla Ice Cream. My friends ordered this wonderful square of sweetness and love and hope, and there was only the last 1/3 left. Thinking it might run off the plate (or that someone at the table would want another bite), I ate this extremely fast... Soo I need to go back and *ahem* try it again, but like a normal person and not a hungry rhinoceros.
And my last order was raspberry & pistachio macarons. TOTALLY SUCK. Don't get them! They were not at all enjoyable. Pretty and petite, but nothing in the taste followed through with the presentation. They were too chewy and dense, tasted like they've been in the cooled display case for too long and the raspberry one tasted like my fruit gummy vitamins I took when I was younger. Not a pleasant feeling when eating macarons though. And one of my friends mentioned it was almost like they were undercooked.
The service was quick and friendly, noise-level was more mellow here than Sambalatte and Starbucks, so it's a perfect study spot. The 2am closing time is perfect for college students to cram a night before a test, to read a book, etc. I am definitely looking to try more of their drinks, and a few late night honey toast runs.
