This Novotel may be a little strange to a novice traveler. I've stayed on hotels all over the U.S. and Europe. Novotel tries hard to be "Euro."
We made reservations online, which were a little tricky, but once we arrived in the lobby we had no problems checking in. You can park right under the hotel (easy access at the front doors), but there is a fee. The room was clean and not too cramped, but you can tell they are due for a renovation. We had no serious problems though. It was quiet and the water was hot.
We chose this hotel based on a balance of price and location. It is more affordable than downtown Toronto, but you have to take the metro rail to get from North York to the downtown area. The hotel is attached to a mall, so you can go out the back of the hotel into a mall and have a selection of eateries and some shops. Walk a little further and you can take the escalator down to the rail and downtown is about a 30 minute ride.
Decent place for tourists to stay if you have no fear of navigating cities by metro systems.
