  • I feel like every review has already stated the routine for this place. I'm just going to reiterate all the facts. - BRING EXACT CHANGE. $5 ROUND TRIP or $2.50 one way. THEY DO NOT ACCEPT CARDS NOR IS THERE AN ATM ON SITE. I can't remember what the senior rate nor the student child rate were. - Parking to us wasn't painful. Is actually really straightforward, and I didn't feel that they were overcharging for what you had to pay for per hour. - Use the bathroom before you come here. There is a bathroom at the top of the incline in the visitor's center, but not at the bottom. If you park in the parking lot where the paid parking is, there is going to be a porta potty. If you happen to make the mistake of using the porta potty right after the Steelers game, you're pretty screwed. That thing was about to overflow into the floor and trust me when you have 300 people who have used the same bathroom without it being cleaned out, it can be a very sticky and messy situation you don't want to have to encounter. I learned that really quickly. - Expect a wait. No elaboration needed. - Bring your camera and be ready to shoot. - This is not for someone who does not enjoy heights, claustrophobia, or loudness. All of these will occur on the trip and it doesn't matter what time of day it is. Expect loud children, expect to be cramped into the small car going up the incline, and expect to get vertigo while looking down on to the landscape. If you're in history lover, you will greatly appreciate this and see what the people used to take when climbing up to Mount Washington. This was put in place to prevent them from having to walk uphill from the bottom of the city. It went out of business in 1963, and only went back into business because a non-profit was founded to raise money to reinstall the incline and has been working ever since. I had a great time, and I encourage you to do the same. I don't feel it's overrated because this encompassed everything I had expected it to.
