| - I know my rating on Service - 5 stars and Food - 3 Stars should average out to 4 stars, but the food is the main reason for going and I feel it carries more weight than the service.
The ambiance was nice, comfortable, and laid-back. They had a nice "specialty drink" section and I enjoyed the wine by the glass selection, very thorough. We had a waiter and waitress and they were on the top of their game, great service is always a plus.
The negative started with the appetizer, rubbery calamari. When eating good calamari you should be able to bite through it, you should not have to chew it. The sweet chili sauce and peppers were a nice touch and had good flavor, but the meat of the dish "calamari" was a poor showing. If you're looking for a great calamari appetizer go to Dressler's, they know how to do it right.
Now on to the steaks. My fiancé ordered the PORCINI RUBBED FILET MIGNON, heavily seasoned with salt and pepper. According to her, some bites were so salty it was hard to enjoy. I know the bite she gave me was super salty and not enjoyable. I ordered the Bone-In Blackened Ribeye with 3 oysters, nice crust and cooked to order, MR. I enjoyed my steak, but have enjoyed better. The experience was nothing to write home about, but it was worth giving all you yelpers a heads up. CLT has lots of steakhouses; make a better choice than we did.
