  • Have been a customer of Vandermeer for many years because of the selection, certainly not the prices. I was looking at their website the other day, it's almost spring and I am itching to start scratching around in the garden. I spied a banner for a terrarium workshop that looked interesting and fit my wife and my schedule. No mention of admission or entry fee. Called them up to reserve, nice young man, no problem reserving 2 spots, again NO MENTION OF ANY COST. Maybe I am naive but when my wife and her guest showed up, suddenly there was a $60 per person fee. Had I not been called away and been there myself, I would have let them know I was displeased and would not have stayed. Even worse, the $120 bought a 5 minute lecture, two cheap glass jars, 8 or 9 tiny plants and a few tablespoons of soil! SHAME! Don't be a simpleton like me, this company skirts the edge of misleading advertising!
