  • I hate myself for even doing this. I'm ashamed I shop here, and I swear, if you tell someone I go here....I might shank you with my butter knife. I....want to hate this place. I really do. I want to hate it for not being Trader Joe's, for not being Whole Foods, for not being Mustard Seed. BUT the people who work there are TOO DARN NICE. Seriously. I don't know what they're pumping into the vents, but I can be the biggest Asshole (with a capital A) when I walk in there, but two minutes into shopping, I'm this sweet pleasant person without a single vindictive or hateful bone in my body. I don't even recognize that person, damn it! But, in all seriousness, I shop at Earth Fare. The veggies/fruits are always lovingly displayed, pretty darn tasty, and right on price points for my Shafer Hillside Select tastes on a Miller Lite budget. The meat/seafood case is pretty good, I still prefer my butcher if I have the time however. Though, I have to complain that they don't always know the origin of their shellfish which kinda worries me. I don't mind Thai shrimp, but I'm not eating anything out of the Gulf (regardless of what BP says, ain't happening). Ravioli and shrimp by the 'scoop' bothers me. I can't put my finger on it, but something tells me these are items I don't really want done 'bulk' style. I know this is probably me being rather paranoid about what negligent parents let their children stick their grimy fingers in, but I just don't like it. I don't look at most of the middle aisles....'cause I don't eat grains a whole lot. But y'all can go on with your bad selves in those aisles. Prepared foods is probably my favorite sections because I'm lazy when university is in session and I just can't be arsed to cook my own food most of the time. Grilled blackened chicken is the best. Tri-tip is phenomenal. Roasted brussel sprouts + roasted garlic makes my toes curl. All of the chicken salads put my own to shame. I never seem to find a huge variety in their soups. Maybe I just go on odd days, but there always seems to be the apple/squash and the thai chicken soup. Both of which ROCK....but get kinda old after a while. The sushi isn't worth it. The paninis/sandwiches I don't eat. The JUICE BAR....is teh[sic] awesome. And convenient. And expensive. (See $400/bottle wine tastes vs cheap beer budget mentioned above) Uhm. The weird holistic health section.....it makes baby jesus cry. So I avoid it like the plague. YOU however might be interested in that sort of debauchery. And it looks like an extensive selection of aforementioned debauchery. Feel free to peruse at your own risk.
