Baklawa King has quickly become my go-to takeout spot for food to bring to potlucks and dinners. Their baklawa is a strong competitor for the best I've ever had, and their variety is unmatched in the GTA.
The baklawa and other pastries are showcased along a glass enclosure that spans the length of the entire restaurant. Cafe style tables fill the remaining space. They have a ticketing system for when it gets really busy, but it's never been too bad - I've always just been able to wait in line.
As I'm not too familiar with the different types of baklawa, I usually ask for an assorted box and just specify the weight or # of pieces I want to purchase. (Tip: always ask to have your box weighed for best value) The staff has always managed to choose a delicious assortment of pastries, so I just trust their selection.
Ps. If you're simply looking for the best bang for your buck and not presentation points, then check out countertop by the cashier for yesterday's baked goods at a deep discount. They're sold in takeout containers anywhere from between $5-10!
