  • I was out and about on Queen West looking for a dress fit for a wedding and Fraiche was one of the stores that I had on my "must stop by" list. I popped in here on a Tuesday evening to check out what they had. Like most boutique-y stores on Queen Street, this store isn't very large. At one point there were three women looking (myself included) and a salesperson puttering around and it got crowded. Still, I came looking for a dress and there were a few to choose from here. I found a very nice short dress that was fit for a wedding, but it just didn't feel... good enough? The quality of the dress seemed to be a bit low and although it was only $50, it kept riding up under my bust every time I moved. The sales person was helpful but kind of hung around at the change rooms (directly outside my change room in fact) which was okay considering there were 2 of us in change rooms, but kind of suffocating. Then again, I suppose there weren't many other places she could stand because Fraiche is a shoebox (filled with pretty things, mind you). I also have to note here that I'm not a hipster, nor am I even remotely interested in hipster clothing and a lot of the dresses here really seem to be following that most recent trend of bringing back the 80s in pattern, cut and style. Having lived in the 80s (given, I was a kid, but still - I remember those horrible photos of my aunts and older cousins) I have no interest in revisiting patterns and cuts from that era. This store made me feel OLD and I'm only 27. Overall, an interesting store... and there's not much else I can really say about it. The staff could have been a bit friendlier and the clothes could have a little wider range, but it was mostly what I expected of Queen West. I'll probably head back next time I'm clothes shopping in the area but I'll manage my expectations better.
