  • Like the majority of other reviews here, this is one to skip. I work within the company, and I was seeing it for one reason only ... for work purposes (as a review). I did like the magic ... yes, there is one obvious trap door on the stage, but other than that ... I'm a huge fan of magic. BUT, it's not like what you would have seen on TV .... street magic and stage magic are definitely different. I like his "as seen on TV" street magic better. I saw this show several years ago, when the show began, there were some acrobatics, although minimal. Now, several years later, seeing it again, there are NO ACROBATIC scenes at all. Not sure WHY this is a Cirque show, except for maybe the costumes and make-up of the sidekicks / assistants. I have two main problems with this show: 1. The main thing that I found most disturbing was when he pulled up a 14 year old boy to the stage for an overtly pedophelic segment of the show. As a Christian, I found it to be beyond offensive and nauseating. I'm referring to the things that were SAID by Criss, and done between this boy and Criss' long time pretty / blonde (and age 40 'ish) assistant. She was hanging all over him, sitting on his lap, walking around with the swag of a stripper. I know that "this is Vegas" ... "sin city" but that means nothing to me. If we heard of a teacher in a HS doing and saying what was done/said on this stage show, the news media would be reporting her as a pedophile. And the audience laughed. I do not know why I did not walk out. I did complain to him on his Twitter. 1. the "toilet humor." It likened itself to 13 year old middle school humor. Criss is an adult, and most of the audience is adult, so WHY the need for the attempt at immature jokes? NOT FUNNY - how is this legal? Because it's in a show????????? 2. The swearing and "toilet humor" can go too. Criss is how old? The audience is mainly adults. I think we're all a bit too mature and way beyond the school yard "humor." Nothing funny about it. And this show is touted as being "kid friendly" too but I think not ... how it is it okay for families with all the swearing? Can't he be funny without cussing? The unnecessary profanity just showed me that Criss has a lack of maturity and discernment. I've seen awesome comedians that will have you laughing so hard that you tear up, with NO foul language or "toilet" humor. This show is NOT for kids, and sure to disappoint adults.
