  • I normally go to Heaven Can Wait for my cat adoptions and volunteering. However, I thought I would try a new place. I found a listing for a Homeward Bound kitty on PetFinder.com. We have a cat with a very specific personality that needed a cat with a specific personality. =) All of their adoptable kitties are at PetSmart at Best of the West at 2140 N Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89108. Kitties are there between 12:30 - 4:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm sure you could email or call them to set up something that could accommodate you. We did decide to adopt said kitty after meeting with him. I will say that the adoption area is very small, cramped, and crowded. It was on this particular Sunday. It can be hard to gauge a potential new family member in such a situation. However, Rango, our chosen kitty, was playful and friendly and we thought he would be a good fit after speaking with Jim, his foster dad. There was paperwork both through their organization and through PetSmart that had to be filled out as a preliminary application. Jim and Donielle scheduled an at home visit with us for two days after. They come to asses your home situation to check for any potential issues with the cat you would like to adopt. Jim was very patient with us. He stayed and made sure Rango was going to be OK and did the introduction with our other cat, Pepper. He is a true cat whisperer! He is also very very knowledgeable about feline behavior and diet. All of the adoption paperwork was very organized and you get a free vet visit to the vet that they use who does NOT support declawing. Thank you Jim, Donielle, and all the Homeward Bound volunteers and employees! We appreciate the great care that you gave to Rango's transition and we hope that he is able to be comfortable in our home!
