Sam's Town has a sweet little Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament with the ultra low buy in of $23. No add ons, no rebuys. The tourney is Limit Hold 'Em for the first hour, levels go up every 20 minutes. You start with just $500 chips.
Most of the other players are locals who know each other and all the staff by name. They play with each other continuously and intimately know each other's game. Unless you are a crackerjack poker player you willl more than likely be at a considerable disadvantage when you sit down to play.
Nevertheless, if you want a chance to work on your tournament poker skills you'd be hard pressed to find a less expensive opportunity. If you've never played a tournament this would be a great place to give them a shot.
The tourneys typically attract two to three tables of players. The top three finishers get paid. The brush said the tourneys usually run two to three hours. I wouldn't know, I got knocked out right after the tourney switched to No Limit. Didn't win, but had way more than $23 worth of fun.
