  • Whether struggling with a hair SOS or looking for a quick trim, Caprice never lets me down. Specifically, Marina. Countless credentials? Check. In Salon Apprenticeship program and Advanced Seminars? Check. Marina's proteges starting successful business? Check. A natural-concept hair salon and Canadian pioneer in thermocutting, Caprice always brings the latest European trends in hair treatment, cut, colour and style. Marina's focus is in prevention rather than a bandaid over broken arm solution. Upon initial assessment of your scalp and hair, Marina will explain to you how your hair is to be treated in order to address your current issues, from how to wash it to how to style it at home. The more specific you are with her, the more expertise she will share with you throughout your visit. I wasn't pushed to have a makeover, like many salons have attempted in the past. I had just the right amount of hair trimmed because my desire to keep growing it out was greeted with Marina's full support. Not even a suggestion to do anything to my existing colour. I got a great scalp massage during a wash and was taught how to do it myself at home. A nourishing mask, followed by a root amplifier and thermal protector plus a quick blow dry prior to hot scissors hair cut. When my hair is in good shape, a cut with regular shears is all I need but a thermocut at Caprice saved my over-processed bleached hair 9 years ago. If regular cut is priced between $50-$80, Thermocut is offered at $75-$100 so if you are the type to trim your hair every 6-8 weeks for the purpose of split ends prevention, Thermocut saves you money in the long run, as my hair didn't split for 6 months post treatment. Skeptics online have long debated over effectiveness of this procedure, but it worked for my fine, brittle naturally blonde bleached hair, therefore I've always recommended it and was excited to have it done again. Furthermore, Marina also introduced to Canada the ever so popular Velaterapia, or fire cutting - Europe's trendiest treatment that seals ultra-nourishing components to restore hair elasticity while getting rid of split ends without affecting length whatsoever. We decided to get it done in a month after my older layers will grow out a bit in order to level with the trim. My crash course in hair ignorance also included a quick guide through the latest professional and in-home care by Rene Furterer and Mon Platin, without any pressure, mind you. Caprice offers an online shopping option. My haircut was $100 exactly, which is what any salon would charge you if your hair was long and cut by a Master Stylist and I paid that for a Thermocut. That left plenty of room for a Rene Furterer Karité mask for severely damaged hair and it has been great for my hair so far. I've never left less than $200 at a hair salon since I was 16 so it felt great getting the best for my hair at lesser cost but superior quality while leaving hair-smarter.
