Tonight was my first trip back to Jac's in approximately two years. After a 25-minute wait, we were seated at a cozy table in the front window.
I had the evening's special moules and frites with a mushroom miso broth, that was absolutely delicious. The moules were fresh and were accompanied with a generous amount of perfectly cooked frites topped with sprinkles of sea salt and served with a side of rich aoli. I had a New Glarus Road Slush Stout with dinner. Personally, I am not a fan of New Glarus Beers, but this Stout is a new personal favorite.
My wife had a Jac's Classic Burger with a side of frites. The burger was described as the best that she has ever had and although her side of frites was delicious, she was left with what seemed like the bottom of the fry bin with only small chunks of potato. My wife thought it was especially nice that the hostess would call us when our table was ready. We spent much of our 25-minute wait, walking through Wingra Park and along the lake, as opposed to bumping into other patrons in the limited bar area.
We'll definitely be back to this establishment, and it won't take another two years.
